What it is?
Culture is circular. The 70s are back, baby - via the '90s revival and the dystopian future. Civil rights protests, class struggle, international tension, economic woes... But The Funk never went anywhere, dig?
Those old enough might call it "Acid Jazz", but without the trendy aspirations. It's Jazz-Funk intellectualism and Dub's astro-travelling, via the rawness which informed the original Hip-Hop - keeping 4 Pillars in full focus and rejecting the vapid materialism of the current, post-gangsta Trap era. And it'll make you move, too.
Based in Edinburgh ("Auld Reekie" to those in the know), Wilsoni returned closer to his idyllic upbringing in the Scottish Borders after searching for some realness in Glasgow and London for more than a decade, only to find the "Placebo Syndrome" that George Clinton warned of has infected the globe.
Producing and performing almost all of the music himself out of necessity (in the purple shadow of his idol, Prince) Wilsoni at heart is much like any songwriter, filtering observations and yearning through aesthetic vibe, speaking to the listener directly.
