Wilsoni Beat “Slow Asstley” blogged | blornagain – New Music Monthly

Somehow he’s managed to pull off the ultimate rickroll and produce a genuinely decent beat from Asstley on morphine.

Hey there, long time no see. What’s good?

Just takin’ some time out to sort out my shit, got some plans for a brace of new EPs this year in the pipeline.

In the meantime, a little instrumental I tossed off a while ago (based on a super-slow recording of Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley) has been very kindly featured by music blog blornagain in their January “New & Underexposed” post, after being posted on Soundcloud. The blog has a rather tasty selection of tunage every month from across the board – of great taste, might I add, so not only am I pleasantly surprised to be featured, but also pretty stoked that it’s  right next to one of my fav up-and-coming bands, Basildon-based Indie-Rap outfit COURTS who just dropped a new single called Glass Half Empty.

Very appreciative of the kind words, Mr. Blorn. Thank you muchly!

Christmas is coming early this year!

Don’t you think Christmas is getting earlier and earlier every year? I do.

But hey – those stores need the cash injection, right? >:(

So, I thought I’d get in on the action…

Longtime Friend of Tha’ Funk Masta and collaborator Andrew Denholm has done it again and made some mentalist illustration for my new single, but I need folks to share it about on Twitter – every retweet gets closer to uncovering the full image. It’s really great, trust me!

Much appreciated. Stay Tuned!

“Stand Up & Be Recognised!” played on Amazing Radio | 6th July 2015

Simon Raymonde seems to like my music (or his producer does, at least) as “Stand Up & Be Recognised!” was featured on his Amazing Radio show on Monday.

If you remember, Simon gave me my first radio airplay with “Empowerful Strut – WYSIWYG” on the same show in April.

You can listen to the show on Simon’s Amazing Radio page, or click here to jump straight to the part of the show where the song is played, around 4:30.

The cool thing about Amazing Radio is that it’s for unsigned artists, and if a track gets a lot of attention on Amazing Tunes then it’s more likely to get radio play. So, you can find all my music at amazingtunes.com/funkmasta, and whilst you’re discovering your new favourite band you can give my stuff a ‘like’ or playlist it and I might get played again – I reckon it sounds much better squashed through the radio compressor!

Let me know what you think, leave a comment or message me on Twitter or Facebook.

The Money Song – Stand Up & Be Recognised! (Pt. 2) – Out NOW! – FREE DOWNLOAD!

Today is apparently the last day that music in the UK will be released on a Monday. Additionally, the people of Greece voted yesterday against further IMF imposed austerity by a margin of 61% against.

To mark both these occasions – though obviously Greece is a much more pertinent event – I’m announcing the release of a fresh jam – part 2 of the Stand Up & Be Recognised! EP, here’s “The Money Song”!

Written after the banks broke in 2008, it’s an issue I feel strongly about and an attitude that angers me even more in today’s political climate.

You can grab a FREE COPY from Bandcamp – either as Pt. 2 on its own, or as a bonus track if you buy Pts. 1 & 2.

Share if you dig it! It’s a #SocialistParty, y’all!

Stand Up & Be Recognised! EP (Pt. 1) OUT NOW!!!

Today is May Day – International Workers Day, and next week in the UK on May 7th we have a neck-and-neck bitterly fought Election coming up.

With that in mind, I urge people to STAND UP & BE RECOGNISED!

This song was written in outrage at the circumstances surrounding the result of the last election in 2010 – and things have since got worse! Share if you believe, share if you agree – share if you’re angry!

Available now from Bandcamp, and most major digital distributors imminently. Expect Pt. 2 of this EP in the next few weeks…
